I spend a lot of time on beaches walking our dogs. Often, as it's the far north of Scotland, it's grey and dull as it was on the day I took the photo that inspired this painting. Despite the greyness of the day, there was a wonderful reflection of the cliffs on the wet sand and I knew I wanted to paint it using a more colourful palette than the one nature was showing that particular day.
The canvas is deep set gallery wrapped with the edges painted with white fine art acrylic spray paint and as such it doesn't need to be framed and will hang as is. As with all my art, this has been sprayed with satin varnish to protect it from dust and UV light.
