Artist's description:

"Security" and "protection" are sensory perceptions embodied in "Abrigo"("Shelter") by the warmth of hands holding a child's bust. The narrative, thought from a vital necessity, is reinforced by the distancing exerted between the child and a context, almost aggressive conferred by the chromatic intensity and the graphic of the organic patterns. The hands assume a defensive barrier that comforts and shelters the child.
The complementarity of techniques is intentional. It combines the expressiveness of the watercolor with the emotional value attributed to the maternal warmth of the capulana (Mozambican cloth used by women to carry their children). This ends the composition vitalizing the contrasts and emphasizing the dramatization of the narrative.
