Original artwork description:

This painting was featured in Geoffrey Greene's 2015 solo exhibit "Ancient Roman Life Class"
Pegaso Gallery International
6812 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038
USA (323) 456-4452

Size: 60 H x 38 W x 2.5 in - large oil on gallery wrapped heavy canvas

"sacred-idyllic nude (large)" "Sacre-idillica" refers to a common motif in the decorative painting of ancient Rome; usually a lone figure in a landscape w/a small temple, thus sacred and idyllic. I like the contrast between the melodramatic, near tragic dance pose and the fact that we are (hopefully) aware it's just a pose. if not we are in deep trouble!

Materials used:

oil paint, stretched canvas, wood
