This is a single colour photo etching with an aquatint of a lone Norwegian pine tree.
The etching has been created from a pen and ink sketch that I created on a trip to the remote village of Ortnevik. The tree was situated high up, outside our cosy wooden cabin and I loved how it's silhouette stood out against the back drop of the sky as dusk fell.
The tree sits upon a textured background as I chose to use the reverse of an old etching plate and utilise it's accidental textural marks.
The etching was created in the studios at the Royal Academy Art School in London where I am lucky enough to be a Print Fellow.
Somerset paper, printing ink and an etching plate and press.
