Artwork description:

This portrait was inspired by the Wayuu people of the Guajira in the Northern coast of Colombia and Venezuela.

The Wayuu's or Guajiros use of colour in their clothes and weaving patterns was essentially my inspiration for painting this portrait.

I chose again to use graphite as a direct move towards removing skin colour from the subject, allowing the viewer to observe, admire and question.

I've used a mixture of acrylics, oil sticks and colour pencils.

Materials used:

graphite, acrylic, oil stick, colour pencils
