I absolutely adored Helen Macdonald's incredible 'H is for Hawk' and fell head over heels for the Goshawk at the heart of the book- Mabel.
This limited edition woodcut print celebrates the primal, otherworldly beauty of the Goshawk; once hunted to extinction in the UK, now back in our forests-numbering around 430 pairs!
The piece was made using professional grade Japanese Shina Ply (made from sustainably and selectively managed wood) upon which the 'Night Hawk' is hand carved. The block is then hand rolled using UK made Cranfield waterbased inks and printed by hand onto 250gsm 100% recycled pure white card.
The design came from my original Goshawk gouache painting.
