In the winter of 1941 1 Squadron Hurricane II's mounted solo intruder raids into occupied France against the Luftwaffe. One of those brave pilots was James MacLachlan ( Sqn Ldr JAF MacLachlin DSO,DFC with two Bars ) who had recently returned to operations following the amputation of his left arm following fighter operations in Malta. He increased his night victories from 2 to 5 during his time with 1 Squadron.
As an artist and pilot I'm always humbled by the characters that I uncover during the research for WW1 and WW2 paintings. In many cases their personal stories are hugely impressive.
A Certificate of Authenticity is supplied with all my paintings, in addition to being signed on the front there is always a written description, signature and date completed on the back.
