Artist's description:

This was the first painting where I started to explore the use of negative space as being just as important in creating the picture as the medium being used. Starting with a white surface, various colors and textures were applied and then a final application of white enamel was used, blending into the surface. The thicker layers actually were crushed by the white enamel and do appear to be lost, almost non existent in a ocean of white when viewed from a distance but upon the viewer getting close to explore the intricacies of the web does the vibrancy of the other colors and textures come through and you can actually distinguish the difference between the positive and negative space.
