Original artwork description:
A small oil painting on canvas using Michael Harding paints. This was from a series of works produced for a solo show in 2014. I made several paintings of nests after seeing arial footage of storm damage after Typhoon Ruby hit the Philippines. I was struck by the nestlike shapes present in the visuals of the aftermath, caused by the swirling winds which whipped up the flimsy buildings into a whirl of debris. I reference Magritte's 'Ceci nest pas une Pipe' in the title.
