Painting the male model gave me a chance to appreciate the landscape of planes, angles, character lines that are more apparent with the masculine form. The challenge was balancing all the warmth of a sunset with cooler skin tones and since so much of the yellow shirt was reflected in the face, seeking out and emphasizing those cooler tones were crucial. I suppose, I could have changed the color of the shirt, but I was attracted to all that yellow in the first place.
