Artist's description:

The face of this young boy with glowing eyes reflecting wild creatures, full of wonder and spirit, represents a journey of discovery. It evolved organically from adding layers of transparent coloured tissue paper and collaged elements from glossy magazines, which I then overpainted with thin transparent layers of acrylic.

Happily listening to the radio in my studio as I worked, I began considering various titles I could give this work and at that very moment, as if by magic, the dulcet tones of Nat King Cole pulled me from my reverie and then the title of the work became obvious - Nature Boy;

"There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he

And then one day
A magic day he passed my way
And while we spoke of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me
The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return

The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return"
