Canvas is a painting surface for oil and acrylic paint. But screen is also called the projection
for film viewing. Between the painting surface and the
Projection extends a sharp line of separation. Never before seems
this bound to have been violated. Is the painting surface as a projection
too scary, the canvas to paint on inadmissible?
In Andrej Barov's cycle, "My Favourite Films," this apparent limit is exceeded.
Everyone knows such impressions that burn and an entire memory
make up. You are sediments of an anecdote, projections. the
entire universe of a film could be projected onto a screen.
Once, the posture of a figure or the constellation of a tableau
contain characters from a story. Secondly, Andrej Barov
not oil or acrylic on canvas, but with modern techniques of so-called 3-D animation, elaborately processed digital photography. the Scenic here is not a question of the application of color, but of the composition
in the selection and the alienation of the illustration.
Pixels replace the paint brush; the canvas, however, survived this progress
without prejudice, if not renewed. The selection of films is otherwise not at all
arbitrary. Your result is like a picture-book, the story along their milestones tells - a film history as well as an artistic Biography. Andrej Barov was in Russia last worked in the film industry.
