Breathe deep! Crisp, fresh, mountain air, and delicate alpine wildflowers fill the scene before you. The gentle wind softly tosses your hair while a group of songbirds cheerfully volley a variety of tunes across the meadow. This is why I paint en plein air! While I LOVE my studio, it lacks many things that only nature can provide.
This painting features a scene from Oregon. It is of Mt. Hood and one of the picturesque meadows that pepper it's lower slopes. About 170 years ago, in this particular meadow, pioneers rested their horses, set up camp, and prepared for the final leg of the Oregon trail. It was a brutal 2200 miles that brought them over mountain ranges and across wild and rapid rivers. What tenacity these early immigrants must have possessed to endure such an ordeal!
This painting is floated over a metallic painted copper board, and floated in an elegant cherry colored wood frame.
