This painting was based on St Michaels Mount, Marazion, Cornwall. The place itself is incredibly surreal. The tide dictates access to St Michaels Mount. So there is something oddly fleeting and transient about the place. I always loved to walk there in hours of darkness with the chaotic noise of the waves and the wind in my ears. The solid and steadfast nature of a rock formation lit up with the occasional flickering light set against the fluid and destructive force of the rest of the environment. It is something that always leaves a huge impression on me for whatever reason.
