This is the latest in my series of pop art acrylic paintings on high quality unframed A4 paper. This one is inspired by classic Japanese prints by the likes of Hokusai and a trip I took to Japan in early 2015.
It depicts a mountain surrounded by hazy clouds, with the 'sakura' cherry blossom trees in bloom in the foreground. The top of the painting was finished using silver paint that shimmers in real life, although it's hard to capture in a photo. And the Kanji says 'mountain' according to a friend who can write Japanese letters.
It's very different from my usual style and I don't normally paint landscapes, however the colour scheme is similar to some past paintings, as is the technique - I used a paint roller to achieve a textured background.
It is painted in acrylics on thick A4 acrylic paper. PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in a black A4 frame for display purposes.
