Original artwork description:

One beautiful Summer morning, some years ago, I witnessed the scene, almost exactly as depicted here, near the entrance to the Old Arsenale in Venice.
Its purity, lucidity and grace much impressed me at the time.
However, I only decided to make it into a painting when I came across, somewhat unexpectedly, a Haiku poem:

In the well bucket
a morning glory
allows me some water

That is where the title comes from
