Artist's description:

I did this painting of the famous island community off Normandy in northern France from sketches I'd made when we were travelling around France looking for a house.
Apart from the stunning romanesque architecture of the abbey and fortifications, the most fascinating aspect is the change the tide has on the view. Sometimes part of the mainland when the tide is out, but an island about one kilometre off the coast when it's in.
