Artist's description:

This is a painting that I coopted from an old war time poster right before the second world war.

I admired Carole Lombard who was married to Clark Gable. I did take the license to elongate

her nose and her neck as well. In the original poster the geometric sandwich reminded me of

Piet Mondrian even though the work was a bit distance from the most common work that

Mondrian created. I also took the license to redesign her flapper dress.

Materials used:

wood stretcher board, canvas cotton duck, gesso primer hand painted

Mondrian and Carole (2015)
