Artist's description:

Oil on wood panel 16 x 12”

It’s probably the first time I’ve painted something with an emotion in mind rather than painting the subject itself. The dominant colour of pinky grey felt very soothing and calm, I wanted to ensure that those feelings permeated throughout the whole painting.

I found I could only maintain it when I was calm myself. On days which were a bit frantic the mood of the painting changed. Thanks to Lisa Langrish for her beautiful reference photo.

I called the piece 'Mindfulness' - this is something that I try to achieve on a daily basis. This very moment, as the swan is about to disappear into the mist, is a very mindful moment. It's the feeling of being present and observing life and nature as it happens right now.

Mindfulness is framed in a stained black rustic solid wood frame, ready to hang.

Materials used:

oil paint
