This large oil painting comes in two panels, which can be displayed either together or separately. It brings the outside into your home, and is full of light, life and new growth.
Inspired partly by Hockney's multi panel tree paintings, also painted plein air, and by Georgia O'Keefe. This work was painted in one sitting, entirely at the side of a lake, Lago Barasona, Spain.
By midsummer, the lake had flooded high up, and the poplars were happily dancing in the wind of an approaching thunderstorm. I only just completed the second panel in time, as the sky darkened and rain started to fall.
