I made this piece after making a few collages for my colleague who got married in the summer. As a romantic gesture I included part of a page from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, a favourite of theirs. The colour print, which is part of one I made at Art School, was photocopied onto tracing paper which I used to neatly mask the Shakespeare excerpt, making the viewer look closer. The Eucalyptus leaf and wee Cotinus leaf are from my garden where as the cut sycamore is from a batch of leaves I collected in the woods behind my house. The sycamore leaf reinforces the Shakespeare excerpt and again, hopefully entices the viewer to look closer.
Colour etching, colour photocopied tracing paper, page from Shakespeare, leaves, copper wire.
