I came across this this scene in the summer while out on a walk in a National Trust property Rowallane Gardens in Northern Ireland .it reminded me slightly of some Flemish paintings of views through doorways going from dark to light so I thought I would give it a go ,the sunlight was extremely strong and washed a lot of the colour from the scene around the man and his dog who where taking a rest near some shade cast by an overhanging Laburnum tree but I thought there was enough there left to make an interesting painting.
