Artist's description:

A study of a tiny wave as it breaks on a sandbank at Maenporth Beach on the Cornish South Coast.

A few years ago when I was an aspiring surf photographer I read an article about an Australian women named of Deb Morris who was making a name for herself capturing images of tiny waves as they broke on the shore. A few images accompanied the article and I was mesmerised by the patterns and variety of colours that reflected on the surface of the waves. Needles to say I felt inspired and decided to shift my attention away from traditional surf photography and focus on Micro Waves. It made alot of sense at the time because I couldn't afford a water housing so shooting tiny waves afforded me the opportunity to shoot at angles that I couldn't get from the land.

I painted this particular wave fro a photograph I captured because I love the odd shape of the lip, the way the colours blend and the fact that there is no way to tell how tall the wave is.
