We shall all end just as we began, as dust. Ourselves, and everything around us comes from ancient stars. The atoms inside ourselves were long ago formed inside a long gone star, you could say we are all about 13 billion years old! All of a sudden, we realise that these wrinkles we see in the mirror really are so very young, yet so very old.
One of my favourite childhood memories is flying kites with my late father. I've made a few pieces of work related to this theme; in this piece the kites are attached to the vibrant orange flames in the foreground. The flames are symbolic of heat, warmth and the sun, a vital ingredient for life.
