Artist's description:

As a kid I loved watching the stop motion animated monsters created by Ray Harryhausen n films about Jason and the Argonauts, or The Voyages of Sinbad. The creatures were both thrilling and a bit comical at the same time.

I loved the Cyclops, the Harpies and marching army of skeletons. Most of all I liked Medusa. This panel is my take on her. She is covered in scales, that might be tattoos; her head wreathed in venomous snakes, she is deadly, yet still some how alluring to men and women alike, compelling people to look at her ghastly beauty. I wanted to place her in a scorching gold and orange landscape. The sun burning relentlessly down.

On the other side of the coin, I expect she was chronically lonely! Can't have been much fun turning people to stone. . . . . .
