Portrait of the late Baroness Thatcher pictured at the funeral of her husband dennis. Margaret Thatcher is still a globally recognised icon and in her time was a formidable political force and personality, loved and loathed in equal measure.
She still has the capacity to generate fierce reactions and I wanted to capture a picture of her at this moment when all her trappings and hold on power were stripped away revealing the vulnerable human being underneath all the hype. Using detailed and painterly brushwork my aim was to capture the frailty and humanity behind the well recognised and familiar features. This is a vulnerable human, like all of us.
