Artist's description:

Having recently moved to the Northamptonshire countryside in the UK, I have been inspired by the wonderful wildlife all around.

From the sweeping intense yellows of the rapeseed fields behind my home to the fleeting glimpse of white tails as deer pass through the forest on our walks - the russet gleam of a fox as he winds his way through the nearby wheat fields just yards from me and the cheeky scurry of the grey squirrel up a tree out of reach of our obsessed border terrier. There's a lot to keep my paint brush occupied!

I particularly enjoyed working on this little fellow - I wanted to convey the movement of the blades of wild grass and so used a combination of fast paced dry and wet brush strokes, building up multiple layers with an impasto effect in places. This results in energy and light just radiating from the painting, making it a joy to touch as well as look at.
