Sophie stands in an unfinished Brooklyn apartment building. The Empire State Building is visible through the window; it is sunset over the Manhattan skyline. Faint hues of greenish-blue contrast with the bright red terry cloth robe draped over her shoulders, revealing her naked body. She portrays perpetual aspiration; the uncompleted trophy apartment, the city out of reach. It is a bittersweet story of, “so much achieved, much more yearned for.”

New York is known around the world and many people have a personal connection to the metropolis. Whenever I visit Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, I am inspired by the art I see and the culture of the city. Although I have visited a dozen times before, this image is from my first ever photo project in New York.

This limited edition archival photograph is made with the best quality inks on heavyweight museum-grade paper. Beautiful and long-lasting, this premium process produces exceptional contrast and crisp images. Properly displayed, this photograph will last without noticeable fading or change in color for generations (over 100 years). A certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, is included.

Artwork is expertly packed, insured, and guaranteed to arrive undamaged.

False color technique

Using the technique of false color, I produce a restrained color palette. The method is inspired by my training in oil painting, and pays homage to the classic technique of hand-colored photography. Color is applied selectively to give a greater illusion of depth as well as evoke an emotional response.

About the Artist

A K Nicholas is a visual artist specializing in figure (fine art nudes) photography. An unapologetic celebration of the female form, these images invite the viewer to explore a dreamlike world. Photography is simply a starting point on this journey to an unknown destination. His unorthodox aesthetic blends sensual imagery with a painterly style of manipulated colors.

Born in the United States, raised in the Middle East, this artist is formally trained in painting, drawing, and photography.
