Artistically, one of the most intriguing aspects of Venice to me is the complexity the many canal intersections bring to a composition. The lighting elements become greater, the depth of interest in the subject becomes broader and the architectural elements become stronger. When I discovered this scene I couldn’t wait to paint it. The strong diagonals, depth of field, the activity on the water, the many wonderful colors and flower boxes all combined to create an overwhelming desire for me put it on canvas. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed painting it.
