Artist's description:

This painting was created from a sketch/ drawing of a man sat in a café in Polis. The painting has been created using three layers of colour with Flake White between each layer to create the image of the man. Each layer was rubbed back to the previous layer, revealing elements from each layer, adding to the aesthetic of an eroded and worn image. The painting is a response to the many images I saw in Cyprus at the museums and churches, revealing the aging process of images and their entropic state.

The painting is framed using old pallets found around Lemba and stained using powdered Serpentinite (handmade) and Olive Oil.

Materials used:

Oil Paint on Gesso Prepared Plywood

Man from Polis (2013)
