I made this painting after being fortunate enough to attend a very special wedding in Kuala Lumpur. It was Diwali season, and the Indian markets were packed full of fresh flower chains and glorious fabrics. I fell in love with the city and felt very sad when I had to leave. This painting combines the colours I saw, and some of the leftover fabric from the sari I wore to the wedding. The background stripes are painted - although they purposefully look like fabric.
I am planning on making a similar, much larger version of this.
