Original artwork description:

It is no question that we are brought up being told that one person can make a difference, or that everybody has the inherent power to change the course of history. But I find that this power is often limited. The people who have power, mainly those who have tremendously big pockets, will grasp and hold the people by any means possible. It is because of their money that they have this power. What these rich holders of power do not realize is that they can only make makeshift barricades on the progressive generations and those who wish to speak out. Their money might soon run out, but our urge to progress will not. Their money cannot silence a nation.

This was the concept behind this piece. To invoice the temporary solutions that leaders put on situations I used string on the mouth as a barricade. String has the ability to withstand the many things, but once it is exposed to the elements repeatedly, it collapses and disintegrates. These elements are our wills, our voices, our thoughts. The color in this Oil painting was done to represent the sweet green of money that these leaders are obsessed with. It is not the actual green of money, but rather their own glorified green.
