A myth composition of a bird with a human hand and a Southwest American Indian religious effigy figure- a kachina. The theme of a hybrid human - animal goes back in time to the prehistoric caves, the Egyptians, the Assyrians, the Gothic grotesques, and many other cultures, including Modernism. This painting represents a blending of a common magpie (black and white and one of the most graceful flyers) and a kachina, which in itself are hybrid sculptures.
