This is one of a series of pictures inspired in execution by the work of Kleitias, the ancient Athenian vase painter in the black-figure style. A picture of a detail from his François Vase depicting Ares kneeling hung in the lounge of my childhood home. I was looking to portray a joyous spirit. I had fun playing with the town and the sky in the background.
