The work of Lygia Clark seems to be bottomless fountain of inspiration for me. Here I'm studying how the reclined figure relates to the planes made by the black and white solids. The figure rests within a space created by diagonal lines that creates volume. Turning her head in a very baroque fashion, the figure looks to the black shape behind her, giving it an active role in the painting. The black shape relates back to the figure by creating a volume with the other diagonal lines and black and white shapes. All these creates a dynamic space that is both two dimensional and three dimensional at the same time, depending on the way the viewer chooses to see.

OBS: All works made on canvas, that leaves the Brazilian frontiers, need to go through a check with the IPHAN, the national institute for the historical and artistic patrimony, to prevent contraband of artwork to the black market. This process takes two weeks. The work then will be shipped via FedEx.
