Artist's description:

"Rooftop of the World" original painting part of "Lustre" series

My Inspiration: My artworks are inspired by the dramatic nature and plants I have encountered during my travels to more than 50 countries. I love nature and its ability to renew, heal, and inspire. I paint from memory. My paintings are not meant to be an accurate representation of a specific place, but rather a visual representation of a mood. The atmosphere of the place and how I felt when I was there, rather than a detailed visual image of a specific place.

My Lustre series of paintings were inspired by gemstones. With this series of paintings, it is all about the abstract shapes and colour accents on the painting and the texture and movement of the acrylic paint and inks. Inspired by gemstones (both their circular shape, their colour saturation and their iridescence (shimmer, pearlescence, and of course, lustre). I also wanted to explore the different colours of natural gemstones other than those that we know best. This painting features lots of lovely blues reminiscent of the blues that a particularly rare and precious gemstone (Kyanite) displays. Kyanite is mostly found in the Himalayan mountains, sometimes referred to as the rooftop of the world.

Artwork Details: My modern painting is made using premium liquid acrylic and other inks on luxury heavyweight Fabriano watercolour paper. It is size 56 cm x 76 cm (or about 22 inches x 30 inches), and is perfect for a standard 70 cm x 90 cm frame. The painting is sold unframed. The painting is signed on the front and back and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
