"Second classified Laura Correggioli for" An interesting conceptual pictorial project, connected to the latest mass media is brought back into a formal rigor that highlights elegance and mastery of an advanced pictorial technique ". "
One of my latest projects involves the creation of portraits of women with whom I get in touch via social media. The aim is to create contemporary portraits through a classical technique such as oil painting. The reproduction of a selfie disconnected from its words and from the original context, wants to explore how we build our identity and the sense of the self in the digital era. Art as a real social, or social media that become art. The rebuilt image thus acquires a new meaning, moving from the online status of of a post to the offline one of tangible pictorial object, to then be published again and shared in the digital world as a picture of a painting.
