Artwork description:

Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant moved to Sussex with their unconventional household. Charleston became the meeting place of the 'Bloomsbury' group which consisted of a loose group of artists, writers and intellectuals; Virginia and Leonard Woolf, E.M Forster, Lytton Strachey and Roger Fry were frequent visitors.

Inspired by Italian fresco painting and Post-impressionists, the artists decorated the walls, doors and furniture at Charleston. Lyndsey Dangerfield and other artists from Chalk have spent wonderful moments exploring, discovering the imagination and talents behind the essences of what makes Charleston such a popular and intriguing place. They have drawn on this experience and have used their impressions to produce their own unique artwork.
