Artist's description:

Loughareema, The Vanishing Lake, Northern Ireland.

This place has a spirit all of its own. As I discovered one warm summer evening, as I walked the hills surrounding the mystical place creating my images as the light changed and the sun set.

I have always been drawn to this place, primarily because I holidayed four miles south of Loughareema with my family for years as a child, and because of the folklore tale of a horse drawn carriage driver travelling home along the road that runs through the middle of the lake (which sometimes is full of water, and others not), who was drowned along with his horses one dark winters night over 100 years ago (they say his cries can still be heard among the ghostlike winds that whip through this barren place!).
