"Lost in Translation" is a metaphorical story about a relationship – its initiation, development, and dissolution. The series is divided into three chapters, each of which narrates a different stage of the relationship between the characters. The characters are both the couple and the spaces I chose to depict their feelings – the city, the sea, and the beach, as well as suburban tunnels and underground passages. Each of these spaces represents a different emotional state in which the characters find themselves.
The title "Lost in Translation" directly references Sofia Coppola's film, which is one of the most important films for me about encounters.
What’s most important for me in photography is a unique atmosphere and the element of surprise. In my works, I like to introduce an element that does not match the presented reality takes on a more surreal character, and the whole picture acquires new meanings. My photographs are based on specific nostalgic atmosphere which become the most recognizable element of my works.
It's printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper. It's a pure cotton paper with an inkjet coating that has been perfectly optimised for the needs of FineArt applications. The natural white paper comes in a pleasant, warm shade of white and contains no optical brighteners. The exquisite surface texture gives the paper a lovely, delicate feel while at the same time lending it an artistic note. In combination with the high-gloss premium inkjet coating, it produces stunning print results with outstanding reproduction of colour and detail, deep blacks and perfect contrasts.
The print will be produced with about 1 cm white border.
