This painting fuses memories of many trips to Asia, but in particular a wonderful day that I spent in Hong Kong. The idea that you can find solitude in such a populated part of the World is fantastic. On that day, I traveled to one of the Hong Kong outlying islands, hiked up a hill, and came across a lone tree and also realized that I was completely alone yet only a short boat ride from one of the largest cities in the World. It was a windy day and I sat beside the tree and watched the tanker ships pass in the South China sea.
