I liked the drama of this lone, lightening damaged tree set apart and framed by the wooden fence. In the intense heat and sunshine of last week the tree seemed to shimmer against the sky and the bleached grass. It was a really good opportunity to use intense blues and oranges together in a landscape - colours which you don't often see in the English countryside.
It is painted with Michael Harding Artist Colours on a 100% raw linen deep edge canvas and designed to be hung unframed so edges of the canvas are painted to coordinate with the painting.
