I was in Hastings on a day in Autumn and the sea was very stormy but despite this there was a lone duck picking away at the sand oblivious of this. It like a script for a story which became the subject of my painting the 'lone duck'.
This is an impressionist painting which also allowed me to capture the emotions of the force of nature water waves coming together in tremendous force the duck a bastion of tranquility.
I used a square canvas as this allows a concentration of both colours as well as its division.
I deliberated on two versions of the same painting each reflecting different times of the day and colours of the sea.
