Artist's description:

This was created as part of a series of smaller cog based compositions - and was one of the last of the cog-based pieces that I created.

This work attempts to strike a balance between the mechanical and the organic with the structured leaf forms at the centre of the work. It brings to mind the detailing found in Victorian or Edwardian industrial designs, the desire for elegance within the brute strength of the new mechanical age.

This piece, although small, draws the eye, and I have often been asked whether it is based on a photograph. However, much like all of my patterning work, it is created from my imagination and a desire to fill the space on a page.

This work is sold mounted but not framed.
