Artist's description:

Original watercolour painting of a chinese statue. Years ago I snapped a photo in the British Museum, of what I thought was a Buddha statue; years later I decided to paint it and did some research. The Statue is that of a (Luohan) Buddhist Monk; from a group of 16 or 18 life sized statues that were once placed in caves in northern China. Each statue is so individual that they are believed to be actual portraits of eminent monks. The Chinese characters I added read 'Kung Fu' which literally translated does not in fact have anything to do with martial arts; the term refers to any endeavour where you gain a skill or proficiency through hard work and dedicated training. This would make a nice gift for someone interested in Chinese culture of martial arts.

More details:

The size listed does not include any kind of mount or frame; and you should allow at least an extra 10cm (or 4 inches) wall space all round for when you have it framed.

Your painting will come in a sturdy wide postal tube with a leaflet of helpful framing/hanging/care tips.

Please note that where possible items will be dispatched same or next working day, but paintings may, on occasion, need to be retrieved from a gallery.

You are getting an original piece by an established, professional artist and with a strong record of exhibiting in quality galleries and outlets. The paper is top quality and is stretched before use to eliminate the wrinkling that can occur during watercolour painting. The paint is of the highest quality and pigments are selected for their resistance to fading. If properly displayed and cared for the painting will last far longer than one lifetime.

Materials used:
