Dog Days on the 'Ancient Lowland Heath'. Successive heat waves have dried out vegetation in this area giving a used feel to vegetation normally boggy and waterlogged. Bỉrds have stopped singing but I hear the distant whistle of soaring Red Kites and the popping of Gorse seeds nearby.
Light has flattened colours making shadows heavy and deep. I try to avoid tonal values for the shadows and use complementary colours ínstead like Monet, Pisarro and Seurat.
