High Quality Photographic Print available as a print only or mounted, ready to go into a frame.

Llyn y Dywarchen is a small reservoir of water in Snowdonia not far from the village of Beddgelert where I photographed St Mary’s Church. Having photographed the church around midday, I headed out of the village and into the surrounding landscape to prepare for sunset.

Arriving at the lake, I explored the area to find my favourite location. Set back from the fishing hut and small jetty on the waterfront, there was a grassy knoll for me to set up looking out towards the setting sun. Positioned here, I had the balance of the hut to the left and the rocky outcrops to the right as the sun set perfectly at the crux of two overlapping mountains.

There was a strong breeze cast over the water which, using a long exposure, creates a feathered texture on the surface. The sun’s rays bursting across the scene inject warmth to the shot and the spring grass and blue skies bring vibrant colour to this stunning pocket of Welsh landscape.

Watermark will not appear on image.

Materials used:

Innova Metallic Gloss Paper, Nikon D800, White Mount Board, Epson SC P800
