Artist's description:

When I finished this piece I saw meaning in the stratification of colors, similar to the rock formations that are records of their geologic eras by the different colors of rock as they built upon the one beneath it. The title comes from a great poem by American Stanley Kunitz. It's a poem about growing older and experiencing losses while learning to accept and appreciate the rich layers of experience that have molded our lives and not letting the "litter" derail us. "Live in the layers/Not on the litter." It's a great read.

Materials used:

Masonite, acrylic paint, water
