Artwork description:

Original acrylic on panel by Alan Harris, british artist..
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a tidal island off the northeast coast of England, which constitutes the civil parish of Holy Island in Northumberland. This is one of the most important centres of early English Christianity. Irish monks settled here in AD 635 and the monastery became the centre of a major saint’s cult celebrating its bishop, Cuthbert.
After the Viking invasions and the Norman conquest of England, a priory was reestablished. The masterpiece now known as the Lindisfarne Gospels was created here in the early 8th century. The ruins now visible are those of a 12th-century priory, which claimed direct descent from the early monastery. The island is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Northumberland Coast
Lindisfarne also has the small Lindisfarne Castle, based on a Tudor fort.
This is a piece that not only describe the beautty of the area but keep althoug important part of history of christanity.
Alan works with a variety of mediums as oils, watercolours, pastel, mixed media, sculptures and engage the viewer with atmospheric detail.
The painting is sent framed, with a black frame, ready to hang.
