Acrylic on canvas. Every creature has a spirit, and a purpose, and a dance. This is a Satin Moth, and I was excited to see a California Native Dancer in the body when I looked at the one at my home. If you have ever seen California tribes dance, then look at the moth. On her head, she wears a Patsuni headdress made of fur with abalone tipped flags of Northern Flicker feathers and beads. Her necklaces hang, and in her hands is her beaded dance sash. Her skirt is adorned with pine nuts and shells with bear grass braids. This Satin moth is behind the two rows of mountains that separate the dream world from this world where we walk, and is just as real as you or I.
